Health premium assessment begins in 2018

With the passage of HB 2391 (2017), health insurance carriers will be required to pay 1.5 percent of the gross amount of premiums earned on health benefit plans issued or renewed in 2018, Oregon voters affirmed this assessment with a majority “yes” vote on Measure 101 during the January 23, 2018 special election. Please ensure the legal counsel and compliance officers of your company appropriately review the details of the measure and related bill to determine the appropriate policies and lines of business that are subject to the assessment.

The Division is currently in the processes of updating iReg for the newly implemented law, iReg will continue to show your past payments for prior assessments. We intend for this site to be fully functional by April 1, 2018, and well before the time the first HB 2391 filing is due on May 15, 2018.
