The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) has begun rulemaking on the licensing of student loan servicers specifically for SB 485 enacted during the 2021 Legislative Session. This bill provides that a person may not directly or indirectly service a student loan in this state unless the person obtains or renews a license from DCBS.
