Starting a credit union
A credit union can be chartered by the division under the Oregon Credit Union Act or by the federally chartered agency, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
State-chartered bylaws
The credit union’s board of directors approves amendments to bylaws and then must send them to the division for approval. Get the
bylaw amendment transmittal form. The amendment will become effective if the division approves it.
Deposit insurance
All shares and deposits in credit unions are insured up to $250,000 per account, generally, by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) and backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. The insured amount may be more depending on the account names.
Call reports
If you found an error in a submitted credit union Call Report, send the corrected report electronically in the same way as the original. Contact the division’s credit union program support staff or manager with page and line numbers of all corrections.
