Flood insurance

Requirements

To sell flood insurance, each producer must complete a one-time, three-hour course about the federal flood insurance program.

If this course has been approved for Oregon continuing education credit, it may be submitted with the renewal and counted toward the total 24 hours needed to renew the license.

In addition, there are ongoing continuing education requirements each renewal cycle for any Oregon resident producer that sells, solicits or negotiates flood insurance. Beginning with any license that expires on August 31, 2020 or later, the producer must complete two hours of continuing education on state and federal laws related to flood insurance, the National Flood Insurance Program or private flood insurance. The producer is responsible for keeping records of completing the required continuing education classes for each cycle. If a complaint is received about a producer related to flood insurance, DFR may audit the producer’s files to ensure the producer took the required continuing education each cycle.
