Dr. Sean Karbowicz
Founder and General Manager, MedSavvy

From dispensing medications in retail and hospital pharmacies to implementing health plan pharmacy benefit programs, he has seen the benefits and burdens of medication therapy. He is a passionate innovator in pharmacy. Dr. Karbowicz has worked to champion best practices that evaluate scientific evidence to predict the performance of medications. This work has been used by health plans across the country to identify which medications work best for people.

Oregon State Treasurer, Tobias Read

Treasurer Read understands that financial empowerment, wise investments, and sound management are foundational to the quality of life and economic opportunities for Oregonians, and key for the long-term vitality of our state.

Elected Oregon’s 29th State Treasurer in 2016, Tobias is a collaborative problem solver who draws upon his management, political and finance policy experience to serve Oregonians as Treasurer.

He worked in the U.S. Treasury and as a liaison between designers, engineers and manufacturing units for Nike Inc. In 2006, he was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives, where he served a decade and championed legislation to invest in public education, improve state financial management, finance critical infrastructure improvements, and to help Oregonians save for a more secure future.

He led efforts to promote infrastructure projects using innovative public-private partnerships, and was a chief sponsor of the Oregon Investment Act, which streamlined Lottery investments in promising Oregon startups.

Chief Community Engagement Officer, Technology Association of Oregon

Cara is a high energy, civically minded executive, a recent resident of NE Portland, and a native of Atlanta, Georgia.

Cara is a two-time nominee for the Women in Technology Woman of the Year Award, a Girl’s Inc. BOLD award, and a TAG Diversity in the Workplace award as well as named an Atlanta Business Chronicle Top 40 Under 40 and a University of Georgia Alumni Association Top 40 Under 40.

Alpen Sheth, PhD
Visiting faculty at Portland State University

Alpen cofounded a blockchain R&D startup in 2016 and later became the Head of Product at Etherisc, a blockchain-based insurtech company based in Germany. Alpen advises several fintech ventures including Raincoat Insurance and the Agentic Group and has worked as consultant for the MIT, World Bank, Harvard School of Public Health, Risk Management Solutions, and the Interuniversity Institute for Research and Development.

Trevor Dryer
Co-Founder and President, Mirador

He started the company to address the unnecessary gap that exists between entrepreneurs needing capital to grow their businesses and bankers struggling to economically underwrite typical small business loans. Trevor took Mirador from just an idea and grew loan volume to over $2 Billion.

Prior to building Mirador, Trevor was Entrepreneur in Residence at Vesta Corporation and led mobile payment and small business point-of-sale product lines for Intuit. Trevor is a graduate of Harvard University and received his JD from Stanford Law School.

Siva Narendra
Co-founder and CEO, Tyfone, Inc.

Siva is responsible for inventions, evangelizing and demand generation. Before Tyfone, he was with Intel Laboratories specializing in energy and yield aware computing designs. He has authored over 60 technical papers in peer-reviewed conferences and journals, and has over 300 issued/pending patents nearly half of which are at Tyfone. Siva is a frequent speaker at a wide range of forums including ones sponsored by academia and industry as well as organizations such as IEEE, FSTC, CTIA, SmartCard Alliance and FTC.

Senior Policy Analyst and Innovation Liaison, Oregon Division of Financial Regulation

Aeron has been a part of the Department of Consumer and Business Services since 2007, serving as a policy analyst for the Building Codes Division and later joining the Division of Financial Regulation. Her areas of expertise include crowdfunding, cryptocurrencies and blockchain, cannabis banking, securities, and non-depository programs.

Tashia Sizemore
Product Regulation Manager, Oregon Division of Financial Regulation

Tashia leads a team of 23 insurance and securities professionals responsible for monitoring possible changes in market behavior and works with insurers and securities issuers to bring products into compliance with state regulations. In 2018, her team processed and reviewed more than 10,000 insurance and securities filings.

Kirsten Anderson
Licensing Manager, Oregon Division of Financial Regulation

Kirsten’s team overseeing licensing of all securities, insurance and non-depository programs. She earned a B.A. in Business and a B.S. in Economics before earning her law degree. Kirsten served two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer attorney with Oregon Legal Services before working in private practice. She joined the division in 1999 serving in various roles including the Mortgage Lending and Manufactured Structure Dealers Program Manager.

Andrew Stolfi
Administrator/Insurance Commissioner, Oregon Division of Financial Regulation

Andrew was appointed as administrator of the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation and insurance commissioner in Feb. 2018. The division is part of the state’s largest consumer protection and business regulatory agency, the Department of Consumer and Business Services. Stolfi is responsible for leading the agency’s regulation of insurance, depository institutions, trust companies, securities, and financial products.

Cameron Smith
Director, Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services

DCBS is Oregon’s largest consumer protection and business regulatory agency with a mission to protect and serve Oregon’s consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate.

Previously, Smith served as the director of the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs (ODVA) from 2013 to 2017. At ODVA, he built and led a strong team committed to advocating on behalf of Oregon’s four generations of veterans and their families. From 2009 to 2013, Smith served as senior policy advisor to Governors John Kitzhaber and Ted Kulongoski, managing both veterans’ affairs and public safety issues.

Before joining state service, Smith served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, completing three tours of duty in Iraq.
