Daniel Schreiber

Co-founder and CEO – Lemonade Insurance Company

Daniel Schreiber 

Daniel is the CEO and co-founder of Lemonade, an insurance company powered by artificial intelligence and behavioral economics.

​Prior to Lemonade Daniel served as President at Powermat, whose wireless power became a default feature in the world's foremost smartphones (Samsung), venues (Starbucks), and cars (GM). Prior to Powermat Daniel served as SVP Corporate Marketing at Sandisk, with global responsibility for the company's social media, press relations, 50 web and ecommerce sites, and major rebranding. During the iPod's heyday, Daniel served as SVP and GM of Sandisk's audio-video business unit, attaining #1 market share worldwide after Apple. Daniel was also SVP and GM of SanDisk's Mobile Network Operator business unit, supplying unique hardware and software to the largest 10 carriers worldwide. Daniel joined SanDisk via the $1.6B acquisition of msystems, where he served as VP Marketing and BD. He was co-founder and CEO, Alchemedia Inc., a content security software company, and began his career as a corporate-commercial attorney.


Birny Birnbaum

Director – Center for Economic Justice

Birny Birnbaum 

Birny Birnbaum serves as Director of the Center for Economic Justice, a U.S. non-profit organization, whose mission is to advocate on behalf of low-income and minority consumers on issues of availability, affordability, accessibility of basic goods and services, such as utilities, credit and insurance.

Birny, an economist and former insurance regulator, has worked on racial justice issues for 30 years. He performed the first insurance redlining studies in Texas in 1991 and has conducted numerous studies and analyses of racial bias in insurance for consumer and public organizations. He has served for many years as a designated Consumer Representative at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and is a member of the U.S. Department of Treasury's Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance, where he co-chairs the subcommittee on insurance availability. Birny is also a member of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board's Insurance Policy Advisory Committee.

Birny served as Associate Commissioner for Policy and Research and the Chief Economist at the Texas Department of Insurance. At the department, Birny developed and implemented a robust data collection program for market monitoring and surveillance.

Birny was educated at Bowdoin College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds Master’s Degrees from MIT in Management and in Urban Planning with concentrations in finance and applied economics.



Cassie Soucy

Senior Policy Advisor – Oregon Division of Financial Regulation

Cassie Soucy 

Cassie is a senior policy advisor for the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation. She is engaged in insurance issues related to property and casualty and health.

Previously, she led development and implementation of the division’s Drug Price Transparency program, one of the first programs of its type in the U.S. Cassie’s policy experience includes serving as an analyst for the Oregon State Legislature’s Senate Committee on Health Care and House Committee on Human Services and Housing. She also led and coordinated Oregon’s Distracted Driving Task Force at the Oregon Department of Transportation. Cassie earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon and a Masters of Public Health from Boston University.​
