Pharmaceutical representative licensing

In 2021 the Oregon Legislature enacted, Senate Bill 763. This bill provides that a person may not engage in business as a pharmaceutical sales representative in Oregon without obtaining a license from the director of DCBS, unless the pharmaceutical sales representative engages in business for fewer than 15 days during the calendar year.

A Pharmaceutical Sales Representative license is required for those that meet the requirements for this license. Applicants for a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative license may complete an online application or renewal at NIPR.com.

For Applicants:

1. The pharmaceutical sales representative license is an annual license January-December. The license will expire December 31st of each calendar year. The license is required if one markets or promotes pharmaceutical products to health care providers located in Oregon for 15 or more days in a year.
2. In order to satisfy the prelicensure education requirement for an initial pharmaceutical sales representative license, applicants must complete a course(s) of at least 10 hours. 5 hours of continuing education will be required prior to a license renewal. 3. A disclosure log must be maintained by license holders that documents their interactions with health care providers, it is the license holders responsibility to make sure the log is submitted. The log for 2024 must be turned in to the program, via the iReg portal by April 1st, 2025. This reporting spreadsheet is available on this webpage. A registration email, with instructions, for the iReg portal will be sent to the license holder once a license application is approved.
